PEI Mussels w/ Fennel Tomato Sauce
Fresh Canadian PEI Mussels, what a treat at this time of year! Alevias Kitchen made a red wine, fennel tomato sauce to go with the fresh steamed mussels, and of course, some fresh bread for dipping
We did the mussels a little differently than normal. We didn't cook them in the sauce; we wanted to reserve sauce for something else. The mussels were steamed with Old Bay Seasoning, just a little, to add flavour. They were sooo sweet; we snuck a couple before they hit the sauce! When ready to serve, pour sauce over the mussels in a warm deep bowl and serve with Fresh Baked French Bread, delish!
