Family Vacation 2024/2025

Koopers Pub

Our second leg of the family vacation, travelling on I95, we discovered that our sister-in-law had never visited Baltimore. Consequently, we chose to take a detour to downtown Baltimore for a stroll and a pleasant lunch by the ports. This part of town is a charming, historic area, and it wasn't crowded, likely because it was just after the holidays, in our view.

We strolled to the water and checked several restaurants before deciding on Koopers Pub. I'm glad we got in right on time. As we were about to order our beers, the place started to fill up with people and soon became crowded.

We weren't very hungry then, so we decided to share a couple of dishes that caught our interest on the menu: some delicious Grouper fish tacos and a classic serving of Atlantic cod fish and chips. The decision to share was a wise one, as both dishes were not only appealing but also came in generous portions that were more than enough for the two of us. The Grouper fish tacos were particularly noteworthy, featuring perfectly seasoned and grilled pieces of fish nestled within warm, soft tortillas. They were topped with a vibrant slaw, adding a refreshing crunch and drizzled with a zesty sauce that enhanced the flavours. Each bite was a delightful combination of textures and tastes, making it a standout choice for a light meal.

On the other hand, the Atlantic cod fish and chips offered a comforting and hearty experience. The cod was expertly battered and fried to a golden brown, creating a crispy exterior that contrasted wonderfully with the flaky, tender fish. Accompanied by a side of perfectly cooked fries, which were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this dish evoked a sense of nostalgia for classic seaside dining. The portion was substantial, ensuring we could savour every last bite without feeling rushed. Both dishes were excellent in their own right, showcasing the freshness of the seafood and the skill of the kitchen, and they provided a satisfying dining experience that left us feeling content without being overly full.

Koopers is a must-visit if you're seeking great beer, excellent service, and a delicious meal.
