Exploring Indigenous Cuisine at Sagamite Wendake Restaurant: A Culinary Journey in Old Quebec
Updated: Jun 27
Birthday dinner with family at a beautiful restaurant. Jonathan, our head waiter, and Kevin, his assistant, did an excellent job caring for us on my birthday.
Sagamite Restaurant is located in downtown Rue Saint-Louis, Québec, and named after the plate that has nourished the nation for centuries: the sagamité soup, consisting of corn, squash, and beans.
The Sagamité restaurant's signature dish is Yatista, also known as "Potence." This dish showcases the significance of fire in our lives. Our ancestors communicated with the Creator through fire and used it to share meals, discuss ideas, and enjoy each other's company. This is why Sagamité's traditions, culture, and gastronomy offer an authentic and unique experience that you won't find anywhere else.
Pre-Fixed Menu:
Venison puff pastry
Sagamité soup or warm duck salad
Potence of Sacrifices: Elk, Deer and Shrimp
Maple pie
